Unlocking the Root Cause: A Quick Guide to the ‘Five Whys’ Technique!

🔍 The “Five Whys” is a simple yet powerful tool for identifying the root cause of problems. Dive in:

1.  Identify the Problem: Begin with a clear definition of the issue at hand. E.g., “The server crashed.”

2.  Ask the First Why: Delve deeper by questioning the problem. E.g., “Why did the server crash?”

3.  Find and Note the Answer: This response leads you to the next question. E.g., “Because there was an overload of requests.”

4.  Continue the Cycle: Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you’ve asked “Why?” five times, or until the questions no longer yield useful insights.

5.  Evaluate and Act: Once you’ve identified the root cause, develop an actionable strategy to address it and prevent recurrence.

📌 Note on Iterations: Five is a guideline, not a strict rule. Sometimes, you might need fewer or more than five whys to reach the core issue.
